Did you know that the Latvian city of Daugavpils gave the world the eminent artist Mark Rothko, the tango king and composer Oscar Strok and the famous actor and director Solomon Mickoels (Vovsi)? You will hear about this and much more during the sightseeing tour of Daugavpils with a local guide. You will see Church Hill, which has gathered the churches of all four main confessions of Latgale, and the last bastion-type fortress in the world – Daugavpils Fortress, where the Mark Rothko Center for Contemporary Art is located.
We do not even doubt a visit to the largest and most modern Šmakovkas museum in Latvia is a long-lasting gift of memorable impressions. Here you will hear a story about the oldest traditional drink in Latgale – šmakovka, which is an important integral part of Latvia’s culinary heritage. In the museum, you will see the authentic production facilities of the drink, and, with the help of interactive tools and the latest technologies, learn the original process of making this amusing drink.
The city will also surprise you with it’s Daugavpils Shot Factory, which is the only one of it’s kind in the Baltic States. Alongside the guide, you will visit the historical exposition, the shot blasting workshop, and climb the 31.5-meter-high tower, which offers a view of Daugavpils Church Hill and the city center. After the sightseeing tour, you will be able to test your skills using here made shots in the factory’s shooting range.

Must know:

• Cancellation policy: free cancelation is available 7 days before arrival.

• The weekend itinerary can be enriched with additional services, cultural or active activities upon request.
• Shooting at targets in a shotgun factory with an air rifle. You will have 15 shots to target cans and similar targets. This entertainment does not make much noise and does not require physical preparation.
