This year, Lithuania celebrates a special anniversary, recognized by UNESCO – the 150th anniversary of the birth of the renowned painter and composer M. K. Čiurlionis. Čiurlionis left an indelible mark on Lithuanian art, culture, creativity, photography, and many other fields – it is no surprise that he is often regarded as the most important artist in the country’s history.
On this special occasion, Lithuania has prepared an official festive program, bringing together various events and initiatives inspired by Čiurlionis’ works. Among them is the “Čiurlionis Route”, which we present in more detail in this blog post.

M. K. Čiurlionis’ Art at Vilnius Airport
Vilnius Airport welcomes and bids farewell to travelers with the creative spirit of Čiurlionis. Various spaces in the airport feature not only visual reproductions of his works but also musical accents. Passengers encounter imagery of the sky, clouds, and dreams – displayed on the main arrivals doors of the central terminal, the departures hall entrance, the library lounge area, boarding gate corridors, and more.
On the large screens of the airport’s digital gallery, iconic paintings such as “The Creation of the World”, “Thoughts”, and “The Message” remind us of the freedom to dream and the power of creative inspiration.
