Great news for Vilnius residents and visitors to the capital – the first electric passenger boat “Rytas” has already begun its journeys along the Neris River. This innovation is a modern, sustainable alternative to public transport for both residents and city guests. At the end of August, a second electric boat, “Lašiša”, will join the fleet.
“Passenger navigation on the Neris is a new and strategic step in diversifying the city’s public transport network. This new service will contribute to a more sustainable environment, encourage convenient mobility and tourism, and gradually become an increasingly important part of the public transport system. At the same time, the significance of the Neris River for the city is being rediscovered – the river is not only the axis of the landscape but also a part of the city’s transport network,” said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas in a press release.

The Second Electric Boat “Lašiša” – Now on the Neris
The second electric passenger boat of the capital, “Lašiša”, has been launched onto the Neris River. Like the first boat, “Rytas”, it will undergo testing, and from this Friday, both Vilnius residents and visitors will be able to travel along the Neris with it. “Lašiša” will sail the same route as “Rytas” – the two boats will help better distribute passenger flows and ensure greater accessibility of the service at all stops along the route. “Many Vilnius residents have responded positively and actively to river navigation on the Neris, showing that sustainable solutions meet the expectations of a modern city. With the launch of the second boat, even more residents and visitors will be able to take advantage of this new way of traveling along the river,” said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.
What’s Worth Knowing?

- Stops: The boat stops near the city’s main bridges and business district, such as King Mindaugas Bridge, Green Bridge, White Bridge, Žvėrynas Bridge, and the Business Triangle.
- Technical features: It is an electric catamaran-type boat with 32 seats (28 inside, 4 on the deck), accessible for people with disabilities, equipped with bicycle spaces, Wi-Fi, information screens, and video cameras. That’s not all – 80% of the deck roof is fitted with solar panels that generate energy.
- Operating times: The boats will run every 30 minutes, with the possibility to increase frequency.
- Ticketing: A 90-minute ticket can be purchased using the JUDU / Vilniečio card (at all ticket distribution points), the m.Ticket and Trafi apps, or directly on board via contactless payment (bank card). Ticket prices vary by type, from €3.0 to €9.0.
- Expansion and future plans: Three more boats are planned – Geležinis vilkas, and Smilga.
